Stephen Lawrence Burke, also known as Stephen L. Burke, born on November 8, 1947, made his graceful exit from the world on August 23, 2026. He was known for his sense of humor, his love for his grandson, Dakota Wamblee Alveshere, and his feline companions, Doobie and Tesla. Residing in Thornton, Colorado for 49 years, Stephen was a beacon of community and a friend to many.
Stephen spent the substantial part of his professional life as a dedicated technician at Xerox. He was a testament to the adage, "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life." His retirement in 2010 was met with mixed feelings from his colleagues, who were happy for his well-earned rest but saddened by the loss of his steadfast presence. Prior to his work at Xerox, Stephen served as a helicopter pilot in the Vietnam War. His military service was a source of immense pride for him, and he was revered as a good soldier. His bravery in the line of duty and his dedication to his work are his legacy that will inspire future generations.
At the end of the day, what mattered most to Stephen were his loved ones. His relationship with his grandson, Dakota, was a beautiful testament to the bond they shared. He was a beloved son to his late parents, Walter Burke and Anna Kates/Burke. His cats, Doobie and Tesla, were his constant companions, and their antics brought joy to his everyday life. He was a man who understood the importance of love and family, often quoting, "Family is not an important thing. It's everything."
Stephen Burke's life was a testament to the power of dedication, love, and humor. His memory continues to inspire and guide the lives of those he left behind. We invite you to share your memories of Stephen on his memorial page, and to upload photos that celebrate his life. His story is not just in the facts of his life, but in the love and laughter he shared with us all.
