A brief introduction to the life of Mr. Li Chaojun
Mr. Li Chaojun was born in Nanyang City, Henan Province, China on April 19, 1935. He died of pneumonia at the North Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs at 22:58, Denver Eastern Time, on December 1, 2023. He was 88 years old.
Mr. Li came to Suizhong County, Liaoning Province, China with his parents when he was young, which at that time belonged to Manchukuo. He lost his father when he was 7 years old, and his mother raised her three siblings alone. In 1945, he experienced the surrender of Japan and the collapse of Manchukuo when he was in elementary school. In 1949, when he was in middle school, he ushered in the founding of the People's Republic of China. He attended Jiamusi No. 1 Middle School in high school. In 1955, he was admitted to the famous Harbin Institute of Technology and studied civil engineering in the Department of Architecture. He majored in engineering, plumbing, and ventilation, but was forced to leave university in 1959 and live in society. In order to survive, he worked as a rickshaw puller, boiler burner, plumbing repairer and part-time university teacher. His life experience at this time was very rough.
He married Ms. Sun Huiyao in May 1960 and gave birth to two sons and one daughter.
He founded Harbin Sanyu Private Middle School in 1963 and served as its principal. During the 10-year turmoil of China's Cultural Revolution, most of the principals of middle schools were criticized and paraded through the streets by rebellious students. He was not spared, but luckily he was not injured.
In 1970, Sanyu Private Middle School, which he had founded for about seven years, was merged with a public school, and he was assigned to work as a teacher at Harbin No. 43 Middle School. At this time, his living situation improved. But the real improvement in life occurred after the "Ten Years of Cultural Revolution" ended in 1978.
In 1978, major changes took place in Chinese society. First, it opened up to foreign countries and ushered in foreign capital and advanced technology. Second, it rehabilitated intellectuals who suffered unfair treatment during the "1958 Anti-Rightist Movement" and the "Ten Years of Cultural Revolution" and brought new benefits to society. Development and construction provide useful talents. After Harbin Institute of Technology reissued his diploma, he got a professional position as an engineer at the Harbin Educational Architectural Design Institute. He was able to effectively utilize the professional skills he learned at the university and contribute to the improvement of the learning environment for students in primary and secondary schools in Harbin. He worked until he retired, and was already the chief engineer when he retired.
He retired in 1998 at the age of 63 and came to the United States to live with his daughter in 2008 until his death. He has lived in the United States for nearly fifteen years, receiving careful care from his daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren, and has spent a happy later life.
He loved basketball when he was young and was the main defender of the Jiamusi No. 1 High School and University teams. In addition, he has loved the art of Chinese calligraphy all his life, studied hard and practiced hard, and is a member of the Heilongjiang Provincial Calligraphy Society.
His life was quite rough, and he experienced the Anti-Japanese War, the Liberation War, New China, the Anti-Rightist Movement, the Ten Years of Cultural Revolution and the era of reform and opening up, which were major events that changed Chinese society. In particular, the accidental death of his youngest son caused deep harm to his soul in his later years.
He is diligent and dedicated in his work, sincere in his life, strict with himself, willing to help others, kind-hearted, and makes good friends. He is a trustworthy friend.
May his soul rest in peace in heaven!
