Cathy Steinberger

–

Crested Butte, Colorado

Catherine "Cathy" Steinberger, born on February 13, 1947, in New York City, NY. For half a century, Cathy made Crested Butte, Colorado, her home, where she relished the beauty of the outdoors and the vibrancy of the community. An adventurous soul, Cathy had a passion for hiking, biking, and camping, often embarking on road trips with her late husband, Eric Peterson.

A loving and supportive friend, Cathy was deeply committed to her Crested Butte community. She was a respected real estate broker and operations manager with Coldwell Banker, where she used her expertise to help many families find their dream homes. Her dedication extended beyond her professional career, as she served on the board of the Crested Butte Festival of the Arts and the Gunnison Valley Health Foundation. As Albert Einstein once said, "Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile," and Cathy's life was a testament to this belief. Her most treasured accomplishment, however, was the life and love she shared with her friends and family in Crested Butte.

Cathy's adventurous spirit, reliability, and loving nature will be dearly missed, but her memory lives on in the hearts of those who knew her. She is survived by her nephews, Stephen Friedman and David Weiner and her niece, Carrie Megan. She is preceded in death by her father, Bernard Steinberger, mother, Authelia Steinberger, sisters, Rosalind Friedman and Marcia Weiner, niece, June Friedman and her beloved husband, Eric Peterson.

In Cathy's own words about Crested Butte: "It's a rich lifestyle, rich in our surroundings, the mountains, and the accessibility—to be able to hike and bike right out of our door." And this is how we will remember Cathy, as a woman who embraced the richness of life and shared it with others.

We invite you to leave your memories and upload photos of Cathy on her memorial page, celebrating a life lived with adventure, love, and an unwavering commitment to her community.
